Biblioteca Nacional de España
La Biblioteca Nacional de España está situada en el número 20 del Paseo de Recoletos de Madrid, compartiendo edificio con el Museo Arqueológico Nacional. Es la principal biblioteca española, siendo el centro depositario del patrimonio bibliográfico español. Actualmente (2005) cuenta con un fondo bibliográfico de 17 millones de documentos, y tiene además una segunda sede en Alcalá de Henares.

Its current catalog is called the Bibliografía Española. It indexes some 6,000,000 books and journals, 25,000 manuscripts, and 240,000 rare books. In addition to books, maps and manuscripts, it holds collections of visual material such as drawings, posters, and photographs. Access to the collections is reserved to scholars.
The current Library director is Rosa Regas. Former directors include Jon Juaristi.
Since it is a legal deposit for the whole of Spain, since 1991 it keeps most of the overflowing collection in a secondary site in Alcalá de Henares, near Madrid.

Elle comporte actuellement 6 millions de livres et journaux, 25 000 manuscrits et 240 000 livres classés comme rares. À celà s'ajoutent des collections d’œuvres graphiques comme des dessins, des affiches et des photographies. L'accès aux collections est réservé aux chercheurs. L’actuel directeur de Bibliothèque est Rosa Regas. Depuis 1991, il existe un deuxième site situé à Alcalá de Henares, près de Madrid.

Die Nationalbibliothek von Spanien (spanisch Biblioteca Nacional de España) wurde 1712 von Philipp V. als königliche Bibliothek gegründet, obwohl der Gründungserlass erst am 2. Januar 1716 verkündet wurde. Die Bibliothek sollte sowohl den Bürgern Zugang zu Wissen eröffnen, als auch die Privatbibliotheken einiger Adliger aufnehmen.
Die Nationalbibliothek ist die wichtigste Bibliothek Spaniens und der zentrale Fundus für Bücher aus Spanien. Derzeit (2005) umfasst der Bestand der Bibliothek 17 Millionen Dokumente und hat eine Nebenstelle in Alcalá de Henares.
